Salsa
1 Large can stewed tomatoes chopped
1 small can tomato paste
2 clove segments of garlic-chopped fine
1 medium can ortega green chile
1 small bundle green onion - chopped
1 small bundle celantro - chopped
1 small yellow onion - diced
1 tsp. oregano
1/4 cup vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
Mix together in a blender
(This is my husbands recipe and he has been changing it over time.
Each time he thinks this is the best until he has an idea to change an ingredient.)
Chocolate Frosting
1/4 cup melted Crisco
1/2 cup Cocoa
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3 1/2 cups confectioners sugar (sifted)
Combine melted Crisco, cocoa and salt;
then add milk and vanilla. Mix in sugar in 3 parts.
Mix until smooth and creamy.
Add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin, if necessary.
Frosts two 8 or 9 inch layers
Soft Chocolate Cookies
Mix together 1/2 cup of soft shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
Stir in 3/4 cup of milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Sift together and stir in 2 cups flower
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Add chocolate chips
Chill dough at least 3 hours
Drop by rounded teaspoons about 2 inches apart
on ungreased cookie sheet and bake
at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
Bohemian Pastry
1/2 pound of butter
3 cups of all purpose flower
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 egg yolks
1 cup sour cream
Rub butter into mixed and sifted dry ingredients
Beat egg yokes
Add cream
Mix into dry ingredients to make pastry
Refrigerate overnight
Roll, cut solid circles for the bottom
add fruit filling
top with same size circle but with a hole cut in the center
(I use a wide mouth shot glass for the base and use a thimble to cut out the center of the top circle, but I am sure you can find something more appropriate)
Bake at 400 degrees until lightly brown -
approximately 20 minutes
Dust with powdered sugar when removed from oven
Papa's Farm Beans
2 - 28 oz. cans of pork and beans
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/3 cup of molasses
1/3 cup ketchup
10 dashes Worcestershire
Mix and pour into a long flat, 3 quart casserole

20 small spring onions or 4 medium onions quartered.
1 large green pepper, slivered
Trim the green stems from spring onions and
peel the white part. Place the white onions and
green pepper on top of the beans. Do not stir.
Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees.
Onions and peppers will brown.
Cut bacon slices in half or smaller
and cover casserole top with bacon.
Return to oven and bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.
Homemade Dog Biscuits
Combine and mix well -
1/2 dry milk
1 beaten egg
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic or onion powder
1 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
1/2 cup water
6 tablespoons of gravy or 1 small jar of baby food (meat)
Shape or roll and cut
Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet
at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes
let dry completely before storing in airtight container
