AKA Mel, Mele or Melelani *any other name must be approved prior to usage* I was first introduced to powwow in the summer of '96. A friend of mine got me hooked and a month later went back to work and left me to fend for myself. I started to hang out at a place called Bubba's! MY GAWD!! What a place! If you all know about Bubba's, you know what I mean! Anyways, one night I was playing truth or dare with some guys *yes, lucky me..I was the only female there* and by the end of the night, met one of the sweetest guys who went by the name Goldwinger* yes, same guy*. He got me the heck out of Bubba's and introduced me to an entirely new crowd at the Dew Drop Inn. After a few weeks, he told me he had a secret place that most of the "regulars" went to but he had to get "permission" to take me there! I won't tell you what my first thoughts were to that, but I'm glad I was invited to The Lodge and met all the great people there!
I know people have wondered if I was a "real native of the islands." So, to set the story straight, yes, I am. I was born and raised on the island of Oahu in a town called Kailua which is on the windward side *don't ask me if that's north, south, east or west --it's by McDonald's--that's all I can tell ya* But I did live in Myrtle Beach, SC for 2 1/2 years back in 1985 but missed home too much and returned. Lets see...I am Hawaiian but have very little in me. I am half Portuguese and have 6 other races in me as well *called mix plate here or Heinz 57 in the mainland* I currently work for a large preschool as a personnel specialist which is a fancy word for someone who processes payroll, personnel and whatever else they want me to do. I'm going on 5 years here and really like it alot. |
